March Report- London/SOAS- JSPS/ITP/TUFS 2011
That was my last month in London at SOAS. I had lots of things to finish and to prepare for my return to Tokyo. However, as of March 11th, I couldn't help shelving lots of things that I was supposed to do as a result of the catastrophic consequences of the earthquake in Japan.
However, I maintained on attending the classes, and to attend some events organized by the gender department as well as others that are organized by other department and have to do with gender. I attended a class of feminism in International Law a couple of times as well. I attended a lecture on citizenship, autochthony and the intersected politics of belonging by Nira Yuval-Davis, lecture on women and violence in Iraq by Nicole Pratt and Nadia al Ali. I had the chance to have a meeting with professor al Ali. Al Ali is researching and supervising a post doctorate fellow researcher who also works on women's political participation. She put me in touch with students and academics who either work on women's political participation or on the Lebanese case.
My work is focused and getting the different pieces of the puzzle. I spent time to look into other academics at other research centers as well in addition to being supervised by professor Khalili.
