University Measures against Off the Pacific coast of Tohoku(Tohoku-Kanto) Earthquake

Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) announces to International Students at TUFS as follows.

At TUFS Fuchu campus, no serious earthquake damage has been confirmed, though aftershocks registering intensities of from 1 through 3 continue to occur from time to time. Fukushima nuclear power plant is 200km distant from Tokyo, and radiation affecting bodily health has not reached us. As of March 19, no official recommendations such as to take shelter at home or to evacuate the Tokyo area have been released.
However, due to the suspension of Fukushima nuclear power plant’s operations and the resulting electricity shortage, a rolling electricity shutdown has been implemented in the Kanto area. This affects our campus and has resulted in disruptions to public transportation in Tokyo and its surroundings.
