| Details | This workshop spans almost a hundred years of the Olympic spectacle.
The four presenters will approach the games from very diverse points of view, such as the national body in its literal sense as applied to the athletes, the political discourse behind the scenes of epochal Tokyo Olympics of 1964, or the pertinent question of the legacy left behind after the enormous economic and social investments in this short but intense timespan. Taken together, the papers and discussion examine and further our understanding of Olympic Games as a politico-cultural performance under the guise of a high-level, international sport competition. |
