Campus-Wide Emergency Drill Held at TUFS

December 8, 2022

On Thursday, December 8, 2022, campus-wide emergency drills were held for all students, faculty, and staff. The drills included a shakeout drill,* safety confirmation drill, first aid drill, and a drill for executives and staff to set up a disaster response headquarters. The drill began with the campus emergency broadcast system broadcasting earthquake early warning chimes and a call for a shakeout drill to lecture rooms and other areas of the campus. The broadcast was made in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean. Members of the Disaster Control Headquarters, led by President Kayoko Hayashi, gathered to oversee the drills. In addition, AED and CPR simulation drills were conducted by the Asahi Branch of the Fuchu Fire Department as first aid training at the Central Plaza.

* A shakeout drill refers to the three safety actions you should immediately take to protect yourself in an earthquake no matter where you are: (1) Stay low, (2) Protect your head, and (3) Don’t move until the shaking stops.
