Paintings by Syrian Contemporary Artist Hiyam Salman on Display

From October 3 (Mon.) to 7 (Fri.), 2022, an exhibition of paintings by Syrian contemporary artist Hiyam Salman was held in the Galleria of the TUFS Research and Lecture Building.

Hiyam Salman’s work consists of unique paintings made of collaged fabric scraps. The exhibition featured nine original paintings and several accessories imported from Syria. In addition to creating her own artwork, Ms. Hiyam and her husband, sculptor Mahir Allah Deen, are the founders of the non-profit organization Arsum Hulmi (Paint my Dream), which provides art education for Syrian children and women in painting, theater, and drawing, as well as vocational training in handicrafts and other areas. Ms. Hiyam is not only an artist but also actively involved in social contribution.

Many students and others visited the exhibition to view her work.
