TUFS Polish Department Awarded the 2021 Polonicum Award

On June, 7, 2021, it was announced that TUFS’ Polish department will be awarded the 2021 Polonicum Award.

Established in 2006 by the University of Warsaw, this award was made possible with the help of the president of the University of Warsaw, the president of Poland’s senate, and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland. The award is given to overseas education and research facilities that have accomplished outstanding results in spreading knowledge about Poland’s culture and history.

Other institutions that have won the award include: Indiana University, Bloomington (US), University of Wisconsin-Madison (US), Vilnius University (Lithuania), University of Ostrava (Czech Republic), The University of Zagreb (Croatia), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), Polish Library in Paris (France), Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), Moscow State University (Russia) and the Leipzig University (Germany).

TUFS’ Polish department received the award just as it was commemorating its 30th anniversary. The department will continue to promote Polish language education and research.

The awarding ceremony will be held on November 26, 2021, at the University of Warsaw.
