SADC Ambassador Relay Lecture Series 2018 Begins with Zimbabwe

February 18, 2019

On Wednesday the 10th of October 2018, coinciding with the start of the fall quarter, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) relay lecture series, taught by ambassadors representing the participating countries, began for its seventh consecutive year.

Leading the way in this 12 country relay lecture series, the first lecture was taught by Mr. Lloyd Sithole, counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in Japan. The counselor addressed the students’ questions thoroughly, covering many topics such as political changes over the last year, economics and cultural sociology.

This relay lecture series was able to happen due to the kindness of the SADC ambassadors, and is held second period every Wednesday in room 207 of the Research and Lecture Building as a compulsory subject for first-year undergraduates in the School of International and Area Studies who are majoring in African Area Studies. To promote intercultural exchange between Japan and Southern African countries, the lectures are also open to all TUFS students and faculty members. For those interested in attending a lecture, please contact one of the course coordinators through the contact information below.
