TUFS Signs Bilateral Cooperation Agreement with Four Yamagata Regions

January 11, 2019

On Tuesday the 29th of May, a press conference for the Yamagata Study Tour was held alongside a ceremony commemorating the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement between four regions in Yamagata (Iide Town, Takahata Town, Sagae City and Shirataka Town) and TUFS.
From the current academic year onwards, with the cooperation of these four regions, TUFS will offer a class called “Inbound Promotion – A Study Tour for Community Building”. In this class, regular students and international students will stay in each municipality, during which they will experience the culture, history and current industries of each region. Students will also be expected to cooperate with the local people by posting online in their respective languages about the appealing aspects of each region, with the aim of promoting the regions around the world.
Through this class, students will have a chance to consider the structural problems facing Japanese society, and investigate inbound promotion plans contributing to the development of these regions.
This study tour was made a possibility thanks to the cooperation of JTB Global Marketing & Travel Inc. (JTBGMT) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
Through this agreement, TUFS will work alongside partner institutions towards promoting coordination and cooperation between local governments and regions.
