8th Annual TUFSxICU American Football Match Held at TUFS

June 21, 2018

On Saturday the 26th of May, as part of the partnership agreement between TUFS and the International Christian University (ICU), the American Football clubs of both universities (TUFS: The Phantoms, ICU: The Apostles) gathered at the TUFS sportsgrounds to play a friendly match.

TUFS President Hirotaka Tateishi and ICU President Junko Hibiya attended wearing commemorative t-shirts, and the match was a close contest.

The cheerleading clubs from both universities, TUFS’ Rams and ICU’s Angels, came to cheer on the teams.

From the 10am kickoff, the teams played fiercely and fairly, and both teams had much to gain from each other’s tactics and plays. The match ended 0-28 to the ICU Apostles. Up until now, TUFS has had one win and seven losses. While this result was frustrating for the TUFS Phantoms, they hope to learn from their experiences this year and aim for a victory at next year’s match.

A social was held after the match, at which students from both universities were able to bond.
