November 29, 2017

In September 2017, TUFS received a letter of thanks from Lithuania's Sugihara House.
Sugihara House is a memorial museum in the Lithuanian city of Kaunas dedicated to Chiune Sugihara, a Japanese diplomat that helped a great number of refugees escape persecution during World War II by issuing them life-saving visas.
In Kaunas, the event 'Sugihara Week' was held from the 2nd-8th of September in memory of Mr. Sugihara.
The letter of thanks was awarded to TUFS due to the efforts of TUFS' base in Lithuania, the Global Japan Office (GJO) in Vytautas Magnus University, which became an official partner of the event, and helped translate various displays for the museum.
During this event, GJO's coordinator, Vytautas Magnus University Professor Aurelijus Zykas received the letter of thanks and a woodblock memento from the foundation, and it arrived at TUFS on the 11th of October.
TUFS is continuously working at promoting Japan-Lithuania relations through the Vytautas Magnus University GJO.
