Teacher Training Course for DLA held at TUFS

From Monday 31 ^st July until Tuesday 1 ^st August at TUFS, and Monday 7 ^th August until Tuesday 8 ^th August in Aichi Prefecture, a teacher training course on 'Dialogic Language Assessment for Foreign Children Studying Japanese as a Second Language (DLA)' was held by the Center for Multilingual Multicultural Education and Research.
At the center, a picture manual of the 'Dialogic Language Assessment for Foreign Children Studying Japanese as a Second Language (DLA)', published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Japan, was published in 2016. This picture manual was applied to a 'DLA Usage Course,' which was established to train DLA practitioners, and work towards the expansion of Japanese language instruction for foreign children.
This time around, the course was run with the goal of training human resources that can work as DLA course teachers. Three Japanese education specialists from TUFS, Professor Emeritus Yukie Kobayashi, Professor Sukero Ito, and Associate Professor Rie Suganaga, were in charge of the course. The 72 participants were chosen through a screening process, and attended a variety of lectures on topics such as the knowledge needed to communicate DLA usage, and course design for if they were to hold their own classes. At the end of the course, a group discussion was held, and participants exchanged their thoughts and opinions amongst themselves.
