TUFS Students Win at Malaysian Speech Contest

On Sunday the 17 th of December, the '2017 Malaysian Speech Contest' (sponsored by Japan-Malaysia Association with backing from the Embassy of Malaysia in Japan, and Tourism Malaysia) was held at the TUFS Institute of Foreign Affairs.

There were seven participants from TUFS and other universities, and one high school student, making for a total of eight participants. First, second, and third place were all won by TUFS students.

First Place: Ayaka Yui (School of International and Area Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, second year)
Second Place: Yuki Nishiyori (School of International and Area Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, first year)
Third Place: Nanami Tomita (School of Language and Culture Studies, Malaysian Language Studies, second year)

First place winner Ayaka Yui is planning to participate in the 'Malaysian International Speech Contest,' which is scheduled to be held next year, as the Japan representative. The 'Malaysian International Speech Contest' has been won by TUFS students for the last two years, with Hatsune Yanai (School of Language and Culture Studies, third year at the time of winning) winning in March 2016, and Lisa Shimasaki (School of Language and Culture Studies, fourth year) winning in July 2017.
