December 1, 2017

On Friday 20 th October, Dr. Gustavo Cobreiro Suarez, Rector of TUFS Partner Institution the University of Havana (Cuba), Dra. Mayda Goite Pierre, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Informatics and Communications at the University of Havana, and His Excellency Mr. Carlos M. Pereira, from the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Japan, visited TUFS. The group listened intently to explanations on the efforts of the Graduate School of Global Studies, and the history of Spanish language education at TUFS, which will be celebrating its 120 th Anniversary this year.
At their gathering with TUFS President Hirotaka Tateishi, many topics were discussed, including opinions on exchange opportunities between the two universities, gender equality in Cuban universities, and the Cuban reception of 'Ernesto,' a Japanese film set in Cuba.
There are currently two government-funded exchange students from Cuba at TUFS, but we are currently in the process of organizing student exchanges based on existing agreements between our universities so that, from next year onwards, we can send students from TUFS to the University of Havana.
