Lecture on Community Interpreting held at Tokyo Prosecutor's Office

On Monday 24 th July, Professor Minoru Naito (Institute of Global Studies, Community Interpreting Research), held a lecture titled 'Communicating through Interpreters: From a Community Interpreting Perspective' at an event aimed at prosecutors of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office.
Around 50 people attended the lecture, and many questions were asked concerning things such as what to be careful of when listening to information through an interpreter, and whether it is possible to have the interpreter copy and act out the actions of the prosecutor while interpreting.

Professor Naito is also a member of the Center for Multilingual Multicultural Education and Research. The Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office and the Center for Multilingual Multicultural Education and Research signed a memorandum on the 24 th April 2017 to promote cooperative relations, and this event was held as part of this.
