Joint Education Program with NUOL Begins

On Thursday 13 th July, as part of the 'Inter-University Exchange Project,' the welcome ceremony for the short-term Joint Education Program of the 'TUFS Japan Specialist Program for the Enhancement of Japanese Language and Cultural Outreach in Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia' was held. There are five students from the National University of Laos (NUOL) participating in this program. The students will participate in tandem learning with TUFS students learning Laotian until Monday 17 th July, and then participate in the Japanese Language and Culture Study Program (Short-Stay Summer Program) from Tuesday 18 th July until Friday 4 th August.

After the ceremony and campus tour, Bounthavy Sosamphanh (Vice Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences at NUOL), and Vankhane Thampamangkone (Vice Head, Japanese Department, Faculty of Letters at NUOL) met with TUFS President Hirotaka Tateishi. Vice President Kayoko Hayashi, Professor Reiko Suzuki (Laotian Language), Associate Professor Yoko Kikuchi (Modern and Contemporary Laotian History), and specially-appointed Associate Professor Soulikanh Thammavong (Laotian Language) were also in attendance, with conversation revolving around the development of relations between TUFS and the National University of Laos.
