6th American Football Friendly Match Between TUFS and ICU Held on May 7th

On the 7th of May 2016 (Sat), as part of the comprehensive agreement between International Christian University (ICU) and TUFS, American football teams of both universities (TUFS: Phantoms, ICU: Apostles) gathered at the TUFS grounds and a match took place.
After an 11:00am kick-off, the exciting game went underway as Prof. Hirotaka Tateishi, President of TUFS and Prof. Junko Hibiya, President of ICU were amongst the spectators. Also during halftime, performances from both the TUFS cheerleading team (Rams) and ICU cheerleading team (Angels) took place. The final result was 6-22 and ended with the ICU Apostles victory. This was the 6th match between the two universities and the score line currently stands at 1 win and 5 losses for TUFS.

This year’s match was also carried out as a special memorial game for the TUFS 1st year student (at the time) and member of the American football team who passed away in the bus accident this January. After the match a gathering was held in the University Hall where Presidents of both universities expressed their condolences regarding the unfortunate incident.
