Consortium for Asian Universities of Foreign Studies Held at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies March 9th

On the 9th of March 2016 (Wed), the “Consortium for Asian Universities of Foreign Studies” was held at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul.

At this meeting, Presidents of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Busan University of Foreign Studies and Daegu University of Foreign Studies in Korea, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University in China, Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages in Uzbekistan, Hanoi University of Foreign Studies in Vietnam, University of the Humanities in Mongolia and Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and TUFS from Japan attended and a signing ceremony was held to mark the beginning of the “Consortium for Asian Universities of Foreign Studies”.

The “Consortium for Asian Universities of Foreign Studies” protects the construction of the hereafter cooperation relationship including matters such as the mutual exchange of students between universities that specialize in language or regional research in Asia. The participating Presidents also spoke passionately of their aspirations. President Tateishi who was also in attendance, explained the importance of the Foreign Studies / International Studies universities which are the focal points of foreign language education and regional research in every country in Asia, and raised the issue of strengthening mutual relationships.

At the meeting the Japanese Ambassador in South Korea, Ambassador Bessho Kourou, and Chinese Ambassador in South Korea, Ambassador Qiu Guohong, were also in attendance and we were able to inquire as to their level of interest towards this meeting.
