TUFS Student Comes in Third Place in Student Essay Contest at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

On Thursday, April 16th, a student essay contest was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Shin Ishizaka (senior, Central Asian Studies major, School of International and Area Affairs) came in the third (first place among exchange students). Ishizaka currently studies at the university. His essay, written in Russian, was about Japanese views of life and death.

Ishizaka is the first exchange student who received support from “Tobitate Ryugaku Japan”, a scholarship program organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. He also is the first student of the newly established Central Asian Studies Major in the School of International and Area Studies, as well as the first exchange student from TUFS to study at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University under the new academic partnership between the two schools.
