Academic Year 2014 Multicultural Society Coordinator Training Program Takes Place

From August 7th to February 22nd, the Multicultural Society Coordinator Training Program, which is part of the Open Academy program, took place for the 7th time.
This training program aims at developing human resources who can deal with problems in Japanese society, which has seen diversification in languages and cultures. This year, 10 trainees joined the program. They engage in multicultural jobs in the government, international institutions, non-governmental organizations, and local Japanese language schools.

During introductory lectures in August, trainees gained perspective on programs about multicultural society. In specialized lectures (autumn semester) conducted in September, participants learned how practically to deal with on-the-spot problems. In the final specialized lectures (winter semester), trainees presented their theses, held in-depth discussions, and summarized the Coordinator Theory. Hiroshi Sano, the director of the Social Contribute Division, awarded certifications to all trainees who finished all curriculum.
