The 9th Four-University Coalition's Annual Lecture Held on October 10th

October 22, 2014

The 9th annual Four-University Coalition’s annual lecture was held at Hitotsubashi Hall (National Center of Sciences Building) in Chiyoda, Tokyo on October 10th. This is a lecture series organized by the research institutes of each university.

The Four-University Coalition is an institute established in March 2011 by Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Hitotsubashi University and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Its purpose is to support the further development of human resources which haven’t been achieved by the existing higher education system, and innovation in teaching in research and study. As part of our project, one research institute from each university hosts a lecture annually.

TUFS president Tateishi made an opening speech, and after that lectures were given by four professors from each university. Dr. Kawai from TUFS (Research Institute for Language and Cultures of Asia and Africa) gave a presentation about the relations between ethnic groups, livestock looting, and disarmament in East African pastoral societies.
