Poland National Reading of 'The Wedding' held at TUFS

published February 9, 2018

On Tuesday the 12th of December, the event 'TUFS Poland National Reading (Narodowe Czytanie) 2017: Stanisław Wyspiański's "The Wedding" (Wesele),' was held at TUFS. Since 2012, with the support of the Polish President and First Lady, a work of literature is chosen every year through an online national referendum and read aloud inside and outside of Poland in an event called 'National Reading' (Narodowe Czytanie). At TUFS this event is jointly-sponsored with the Polish Cultural and Information Center in Tokyo and, following the previous academic year, this was the second time the event was held. This year, Mrs. Małgorzata Wierzejska, Director of the Department of Public and Cultural Diplomacy at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the event as a guest, and the play 'The Wedding,' by Polish playwright Stanisław Wyspiański, was read.

Before the event, Mrs. Wierzejska made a courtesy call to TUFS President Hirotaka Tateishi. This meeting was also attended by Vice President Professor Sukero Ito (Director of the Library), and Professor Sho Hagio (Chief of the International Management Office), and opinions on exchange opportunities between TUFS and Poland were exchanged.
