published September 12, 2017

On Saturday 26th August, TUFS participated in the Japan Exchange Fair (sponsored by Okayama University and the Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni) held in the former capital of Myanmar, Yangon, and promoted the exchange programs at TUFS. There were 300 more guests than previous years, with the total number of attendees around 1488, and the TUFS booth received around 118 visitors. The booth was manned by a representative of the School of Language and Culture Studies, Professor Keiko Tosa (Burmese Area Research, Cultural Anthropology), and Yangon Global Japan Office's (GJO) Professor Michiko Imai. There were lots of inquiries concerning the application process, the Japanese course, and scholarship possibilities. The president of the University of Yangon, Rector Prof Dr. Pho Kaung, and the Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Myanmar, Mr. Tateishi Higuchi, also dropped by the booth, and President Pho Kaung spoke with Mr. Higuchi about how much of a contribution the Yangon GJO has made to Japanese language education at the University of Yangon. University of Yangon students who came on exchange to TUFS through either the Inter-University ASEAN program or the ISEPTUFS program also visited the booth, drawing quite a crowd.
